Hundreds of educational institutions have been destroyed in Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, the Qatari television channel Al Jazeera reported. According to it, the Israeli military destroyed over 500 local schools, universities and colleges during the shelling and bombing of the Palestinian enclave, depriving thousands of Palestinians of the opportunity to receive an education. The channel notes that Israeli soldiers often deliberately destroyed educational institutions, including the educational complex and the university of Gaza City.
