An appeal has been filed against the decision to arrest businessman Samvel Karapetyan in the Criminal Court of Appeal. Samvel Karapetyan’s lawyer Ruben Hakobyan confirmed the information in an interview.
Recall that on June 18, the Yerevan Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction, chaired by Judge Artak Karapetyan, granted the investigator’s motion to arrest Samvel Karapetyan.
Recall that Samvel Karapetyan was charged under Part 2 of Article 422 of the Criminal Code, namely: public call for the seizure of power, violation of territorial integrity, renunciation of sovereignty or violent overthrow of the constitutional order, committed using publicly displayed works or mass media or information and communication technologies.
Let us recall that we are talking about an interview with Samvel Karapetyan, in which he, in particular, stated: “A small group, having forgotten the history of Armenia, the history of the Armenian Church for thousands of years, attacked the Armenian Church, the Armenian people. Since I have always been on the side of the Armenian Church and the Armenian people, I will take direct part in this. If the politicians fail, then we will participate in all this in our own way.”
