Armenia envoy to Lebanon calls on Armenian citizens to temporarily avoid visiting Lebanon

There are no Armenians among the victims of Israel’s military operations in Lebanon, Armenian ambassador to Lebanon Vahagn Atabekyan said this in an interview with Armenpress.

“There are no Armenians among the victims as a result of the recent disturbing events in friendly Lebanon.

The embassy of Armenia in Beirut is in constant contact with the local authorities, as well as with [Armenian] community organizations as needed, in order to properly address the problems of Armenian citizens within the scope of its powers.

The settlements of Lebanon where mainly Armenians live are not directly at risk, so there is no need at the moment to carry out an evacuation for security reasons.

In general, no accredited embassy in Lebanon has evacuated its citizens to this day. All countries, as a rule, urge their citizens to leave the country using commercial flights.

The Armenian embassy in Lebanon is working under the conditions of emergency regime, the consular service is working at full capacity to serve the needs of Armenian citizens, the hotline of the Armenian MFA is working. The Armenian citizens who applied to the embassy whose passports are not valid are given a return certificate free of charge.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, we once again urge the Armenian citizens to temporarily avoid visiting Lebanon, unless it is absolutely necessary.

The UN peacekeepers [deployed on the Lebanese-Israeli border], including our contingent with whom the embassy and the military attaché are in regular contact, are out of the targeting zones and carry out their mission in safe conditions,” said the Armenian ambassador to Lebanon.
