Armenia plans to take a loan of 50 million euros from OPEC

Armenia plans to take a loan of 50 million euros from the OPEC International Development Fund. This was announced by the Minister of Finance of the Republic Vahe Hovhannisyan at a session of the National Assembly during the discussion of the relevant project on December 5.

The funds will be used to cover the budget deficit.

The project notes that the funds will be used to implement the planned reforms, namely: the introduction of measures to improve the energy efficiency of households and businesses, reforming the education and healthcare systems, as well as social support for refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh.

The parliamentary opposition has come out against this initiative. In their opinion, this will increase the already large state debt of Armenia.
