Artak Zakaryan. Yesterday’s statement by the “I Have the Honor” faction was not only about Edmond Marukyan. A popular proverb says: “I will tell you a jug, and you listen.”

2022 On March 14, by decree of Nikol, Edmond Marukyan was appointed Ambassador-at-Large.
It is not entirely clear what these specific assignments were. However, it is obvious that in 2022, starting in April, Edmond’s boss began talking about downgrading Artsakh. Edmond continued to defend his boss’s line.
2022 On October 6, Edmond’s boss recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. Edmond continued to defend his boss’s line.
2022 On December 12, Artsakh was blockaded as a result of another betrayal by Edmond’s boss. Edmond, who was on a special assignment, remained silent.
In September 2023, as a result of Nikol’s conspiracies, Artsakh was subjected to military aggression, ethnic cleansing and forced displacement under the threat of genocide. Edmond continued to maintain peace and solidarity with his boss.
Just six months after all this, he wrote this statement and miraculously became an “oppositionist” overnight.
Excerpt from Edmond’s post from March 4, 2024: “In difficult times for our state and region, I took on this mission with great responsibility and carried it out with great dedication. However, recently, differences in our views on a number of fundamental foreign policy issues make my further participation on the foreign policy front impossible.”
The wording “in the last period” is deadly. In other words, before this, when Artsakh was gradually surrendering to Azerbaijan, then subjected to a total blockade and famine, then again embroiled in war, then forcibly displaced, during the same period, Edmond, together with his boss, was carrying out his mission with great dedication. When the Artsakh issues were finally resolved, Edmond “decided” that “his further participation was no longer possible…” and overnight became a “strong opposition figure”.
Even now he is upset that he is not a candidate for impeachment and why he is called “Nikol-2”;
It is sad, Edmond, very sad, tragically sad, what a situation you find yourself in. You have no moral or political right to be angry at anyone or criticize anyone, because you have chosen your own path.
The irony is that the path you and your boss chose did not harm you (I do not know what you have won), but 150,000 citizens of Artsakh did, the families of more than 5,000 victims no longer know why their loved ones died, and you laid years of labor and effort of hundreds of thousands of Armenians like me at the feet of the enemy. And after all this, you still dare to rush into the impeachment process…
