The wording of the PACE report on the "legitimacy" of the elections held in Armenia contradicts its content and the problems reflected in it. Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan announced this at the press conference of the council supporting Gagik Tsarukyan and other political prisoners on October 9. According to him, the main attention is often focused on the voting process and the period preceding it, but the violence in Armenia started a year before the elections. The first target was the leader of the "Strong Armenia" party Samvel Karapetyan, after the elections Gagik Tsarukyan, the second president Robert Kocharyan and many others were arrested. The goal of the authorities was to weaken the competitors, to neutralize them, Abrahamyan noted. According to him, it is difficult to list the dozens of people who are being persecuted, and new cases are regularly being prepared against the 3rd president. According to the deputy, Azerbaijanis feel more comfortable in the country, regardless of how they get here. He drew parallels with the Armenian prisoners held in Baku. in both cases it is about the status of political hostages. According to Abrahamyan, there are two ways out of the situation. The first implies consolidation of the political field in order to minimize the consequences of the actions of the authorities. In the second case, political changes are necessary in the country, because it is obvious that the authorities are building a dictatorship, and the only way out is political changes.
