BFMTV: Macron gives PM Bayrou 2 days to form France’s new government

President Emmanuel Macron has demanded Prime Minister Francois Bayrou to submit to him the new Cabinet of the French government within two days, a source says, reports BFMTV television.

According to BFMTV, “the president is waiting for the list of candidates by no later than Wednesday.”

The new prime minister was slammed by the mass media for not going to Mayotte—a French overseas department in the Indian Ocean—to personally lead the relief work in the wake of Cyclone Chido. Instead, Bayrou made a planned trip to Pau—in southwestern France—whose mayor is still him.

Macron appointed Bayrou as the new Prime Minister of France on December 13.
