Biden signs national security memorandum on cooperation with Russia, Iran, China and North Korea

US President Joe Biden has signed a new national security memorandum that is intended to serve as a roadmap for the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump to counter the rapprochement between China, Iran, North Korea and Russia, the Associated Press reported, citing White House sources.

Officials said the classified memo should not be made public because of the sensitivity of some of its findings.

According to the agency’s interlocutors, the document makes four broad recommendations, namely: improve US interagency cooperation, speed up the sharing of information with allies about the four adversaries, adjust the US government’s use of sanctions and other economic tools to achieve maximum effectiveness, and strengthen operations to prepare for managing simultaneous crises involving the adversaries.

As the agency notes, Biden and Trump have significant differences in their views on global politics. Meanwhile, representatives of the current and new administrations have said they are trying to coordinate actions on national security issues during the transition.
