Brazilian President Hospitalized With Brain Hemorrhage

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has undergone surgery for a brain hemorrhage and is feeling well, Globo reported, citing a statement from the Sirio-Libanes Hospital.

On the evening of December 9, the Brazilian President was hospitalized after he felt a headache. An MRI scan showed an intracranial hemorrhage, “resulting from an accident that occurred on October 19.” It was reported at the time that Lula da Silva had fallen and hit the back of his head.

Doctors performed a craniotomy on the President, a procedure that involves opening the skull. The operation was performed to remove the hematoma.

The hospital’s statement said the operation was performed without incident.

“The President is currently feeling well and is being monitored in the intensive care unit,” the hospital said.
