Oil prices are falling on Thursday on news of a telephone conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States, during which the conflict in Ukraine and the possibility of starting negotiations to end it were discussed.
The cost of April futures for Brent crude on the London ICE Futures exchange was $74.42 per barrel, which is $0.76 (1.01%) lower than at the close of the previous trades. On Wednesday, these contracts fell by $1.82, to $75.18 per barrel.
WTI oil futures for March on electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) fell in price by $0.74 (1.04%), to $70.63 per barrel. At the end of the previous session, the cost of these contracts decreased by $1.95, to $71.37 per barrel.
