British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called China a threat to the UK’s national security but advocated cooperation with Beijing, Reuters reports.
“Yes, it is a country that poses a real threat to the national security of the United Kingdom,” the British Prime Minister said at the annual traditional dinner hosted by the Lord Mayor of the City of London.
At the same time, Starmer criticized the lack of strong relations between London and Beijing.
“It’s time to get serious, to abandon the simplistic choice between a ‘golden age’ and an ‘ice age,’ and to acknowledge the obvious: it’s a country we can work with and trade with,” the British Prime Minister said.
