China’s Foreign Ministry Calls US Attempts to Drive Wedge Between China and Russia Unsuccessful

The US administration’s attempts to drive a wedge into China-Russia relations are absolutely unsuccessful, and Chinese-Russian cooperation is not subject to changes in the external situation. This was stated by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian.

“Chinese-Russian relations will calmly demonstrate progress regardless of major changes in the international situation. [The attempts] of the United States to drive a wedge into China-Russia relations are absolutely unsuccessful,” he emphasized at a briefing, commenting on the statements of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

As the official representative specified, responding to a Western journalist about the White House’s concerns that Moscow and Beijing allegedly “could join forces against the United States”, cooperation between Russia and China, which act as leading powers, “has internal dynamics” and is not subject to the influence of third parties. “The development strategies and foreign policies of China and Russia are designed for the long term,” he added.
