Chaired by His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, a meeting of Armenian bishops and diocesan leaders was held on November 25, 2025, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
As reported to NEWS.am by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the meeting discussed the recent deliberate omission of the names of the Catholicos of All Armenians and the primate of the diocese during the Divine Liturgy by certain clergymen.
The Episcopal Conference deemed this practice reprehensible, noting that from an ecclesiastical perspective, it is anti-canonical and could lead to schism. It was emphasized that such actions are subject to severe punishment if the clergyman fails to repent and correct his or her anti-canonical path in the prescribed manner.
The meeting noted the importance of the clergy not participating in schismatic actions and provocations, but rather maintaining a spirit of unity for the sake of stability and the further strengthening of our Holy Apostolic Church.
