Hayk Mamijanyan, head of the “I Have Honor” faction in the National Assembly, asserts that the impeachment issue has not been dormant, and they are now trying to reawaken it.
“This is always the main issue on our agenda,” he said in a conversation with reporters.
The Republican Party will convene a meeting of its executive body in the coming days and make an official statement.
Former Masis mayor and political prisoner David Ambardzumyan is one of the candidates for impeachment; yesterday, he made a statement and addressed the Republican Party’s executive body.
Mamijanyan noted that David Ambardzumyan’s letter yesterday demonstrates signs of statesmanlike thinking, an awareness of the importance of the common goal—change of power—and a putting aside secondary goals and personal ambitions.
“I think this is obvious to our citizens,” Mamijanyan emphasized.
He said David Khambardzumyan’s letter wasn’t a hint, but a direct reference to street fighting.
“In my humble opinion, being against impeachment means being against street fighting, and that’s an unacceptable way for the opposition to operate,” Hayk Mamijanyan noted.
