A regular hearing on fabricated cases against the Artsakh leadership was held at the Baku Military Court, chaired by Judge Zeynal Aghayev. Azerbaijani media reported on the presentation of testimony from “victims.” Aghayev also reported that several “victims” had appealed to the court declaring their inability to participate in the trial and had requested that their testimony given during the preliminary investigation be reviewed. There were no objections. Later, Speaker of the Artsakh National Assembly David Ishkhanyan requested a confidential meeting with a lawyer representing his rights. He also noted that he wanted to present a video recording to the court for inclusion in the case file. He noted that the video recording was filmed after the events in Tavush in 2020. However, before presenting the video recording to the court, he requested the opportunity to view it with his lawyer. The judge stated that they would be given such an opportunity during the recess. Former Deputy Commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, David Manukyan, petitioned the court to summon an Azerbaijani named Knyaz, born in Armenia and living and working in the village of Sayat-Nova in the Masis district, as a witness. He noted that he did not recall this person’s last name or any other information about him. Commenting on the petition, Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor General, Vusal Aliyev, noted that the defense had failed to provide the reason for summoning this person to court, the specific purpose of the interrogation, or the information necessary to establish his identity. Furthermore, the place of residence and last name of the person being interrogated are unknown. In this case, the petition is not subject to satisfaction. Even if granted, its execution is impossible. The court deliberated on-site and rendered a decision. According to the decision, the petition was rejected due to its lack of merit. Following this, statements were presented by the “victims” and their legal successors, who, for valid reasons, were unable to appear at the court hearing and appealed to the court on this issue. The next court hearing is scheduled for October 27.
