On October 15, American journalists covering the US Department of Defense left the Pentagon after their accreditation was revoked for failing to comply with stricter entry rules.
About 40-50 journalists left the building simultaneously, surrendering their passes and taking personal belongings from their workstations.
Former Voice of America journalist Ostap Yarish explained that the new Pentagon regulations prohibit journalists from receiving any information from their sources, even non-classified information, without official approval from the department, restrict movement inside the building to just a few corridors, and require them to wear bright red badges at all times in addition to their regular badges.
