The European Union is ready to support the implementation of the agreements reached by Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington. This was stated by European Council President Antonio Costa in a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The latter noted the importance of the agreements reached in Washington between Yerevan and Baku in terms of ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region and expressed the EU’s readiness to support the process of their implementation.
It should be noted that on August 8, a trilateral meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and the United States was held in Washington, after which Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev, with the participation of Donald Trump, signed a joint declaration. A separate clause of the declaration is devoted to the opening of transport communications and ensuring unimpeded communication between the main territory of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. A special project, “Trump’s Road to International Peace and Prosperity”, will be implemented on the territory of Armenia, which provides for US assistance in providing this route.
