European Commission may impose sanctions on Georgia and suspend visa-free regime

The European Commission is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions on Georgia, as well as the cancellation of the visa-free regime with that country. This was announced by the representative of the European Commission Anita Hipper at a briefing, TASS reports.

“During our discussions, other options were also discussed, from sanctions to the suspension of the visa-free regime and other measures. At the same time, as already noted, we have completely reduced the level of our political contacts, stopped financial assistance to the Georgian authorities and increased our support for civil society,” she said.
