Former Nepalese Prime Minister and his wife, the country’s Foreign Minister, were attacked by protesters

Former Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife, the current Foreign Minister Arzoo Rana Deuba, were attacked during mass protests, India Today reports.

According to the publication, the politicians were injured as a result of beatings by protesters. It is noted that the protesters also set fire to a private school owned by the Foreign Minister.

Recall that Prime Minister Sharma Oli announced his resignation in order to impose a state of emergency in the country and a constitutional settlement of the political crisis.

The mass protests that have taken place in Nepal in recent days have escalated into a full-scale political crisis. The protesters, most of whom were young people known as “Generation Z”, took to the streets on September 4 after the government’s decision to ban 26 popular social networks: Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, X (Twitter) and YouTube.
