Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, in an interview with RIA Novosti, stated that the construction of small reactors for a nuclear power plant in Armenia, which will likely be financed by a loan, will be paid for by the country’s future generations.
“There are, so to speak, reasonable doubts that the project’s implementation will mean investments in the Armenian economy. Rather, it will be a purchase and sale transaction that will account for more than a third of the country’s annual GDP. And, most likely, a loan that will be repaid not only by the current but also future generations of the republic,” Shoigu said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
On Monday, following his visit to Armenia, US Vice President J.D. Vance announced that the United States will supply Armenia with small modular reactors as part of a nuclear energy agreement.
