G7 leaders reach consensus on providing Kyiv with about $50 billion in Russian assets

Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) have finalised details of a $50 billion loan to help Kyiv from Russian sovereign assets frozen since the start of the war in Ukraine, the G7 said in a statement.

The G7 leaders said they had “reached consensus on how to deliver” the roughly $50 billion in loans, with the aim of disbursing the funds by the end of this year.

“The funds will be disbursed through multiple channels to support budget, military and reconstruction assistance for Ukraine,” the G7 leaders added.

According to the alliance’s statement, finance ministers “agreed on a technical solution that ensures consistency, coordination, fairness and solidarity across all G7 partners.”
