According to the decision of the parliament, the presidential election in Georgia is slated for December 14, SOVA reports.
The respective draft decision, which was tabled by speaker of parliament Shalva Papuashvili at the plenary session, passed by 85 votes in favor.
And the inauguration of the new president will take place on the third Sunday after the election: on December 29.
The last president of Georgia who was elected directly by the people is incumbent Salome Zourabichvili, whose tenure ends in December.
As reported earlier, under the earlier amendments to the constitution, now the president of Georgia shall be elected by an electoral college consisting of 300 voters.
