German government reports telephone conversation between Olaf Scholz and Vladimir Putin

The German government reported on a telephone conversation between Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is noted that the conversation took place today in the afternoon.

“The Chancellor condemned Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine and called on President Putin to end it and withdraw his troops.

The Chancellor called on Russia to negotiate with Ukraine for a just and lasting peace and emphasized Germany’s unwavering determination to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression for as long as necessary.

The Chancellor spoke by telephone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in advance and will do so after his conversation with the Russian President,” the German government said in a statement.
