Germany does not intend to recognize Palestinian statehood, despite the position of some of its partners. This was stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, TASS reports.
“We will not join this initiative [recognition of Palestine]. We believe that the conditions for recognizing statehood have not been met in any way,” Merz said, adding: “The events of recent days and hours have not changed our position on this issue.”
Merz said that the German authorities also do not intend to recognize Palestine at the UN General Assembly session.
