Germany stops projects with Georgia worth €237m

Germany has stopped, with regret, the projects with the Georgian state worth €237 million due to the situation in Georgia, informed Peter Fischer, the German Ambassador to Georgia, on X.

Thus, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and Minister Svenja Schulze react to Georgia leaving the EU path and crackdown on protests, Fischer noted.

“We [i.e. Germany] stopped finance of green hydrogen, energy grid, water infrastructure Batumi. Support for civil society & rule of law stays,” added the German envoy to Georgia.

Last week, more than 30 OSCE participating countries condemned the Georgian authorities’ crackdown on the pro-European demonstrations in Georgia.
