Germany to provide additional €96 million in aid to Lebanon

Germany will provide Lebanon with an additional €96 million in humanitarian and development aid. This was announced by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock ahead of a conference on Lebanon in Paris.

“We are making it clear that we not only see the suffering in Lebanon these days, but we are also taking action. We stand with the people on the ground, who for the most part want only one thing: to live in security and peace in the future, like many people in Israel,” Baerbock said. Her words are quoted by Reuters.

“At today’s conference in support of Lebanon, Germany pledged a total of €96 million in additional funds to combat the crisis in Lebanon. Of this amount, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development is providing €60 million for Lebanon and Syria, which the Bundestag’s budget committee approved last week. The German Foreign Ministry is allocating another €36 million in humanitarian aid to Lebanon and Syria,” the joint statement by the German Foreign Ministry and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development says.
