The American company Ambience Healthcare has told how it has automated a number of processes in hospitals with the help of artificial intelligence (AI), the website of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) reports.
The company’s engineers, who are MIT graduates, have created a tool that analyzes medical data, works with documents and performs other routine tasks. The service relieves doctors of the hassle of doing multiple paperwork-related tasks. The platform can also be configured so that the AB communicates with the relatives of the patients.
“We create models to give doctors the opportunity to use the superpowers of artificial intelligence,” the company said. According to them, while the doctor is thinking about treating the patient, the AI-based assistant makes notes in the medical record and analyzes “thousands of rules” to correctly format the payment document when making payments to the insurance company. In addition, the AB service prepares a summary of the patient’s admission and examination and sends the materials to his relatives.
Ambience Healthcare said that their service is already used in 40 large US medical institutions. According to company representatives, AB saves two to three hours a day that doctors used to spend on paperwork. Company executives lamented the statistic that the average physician spends only 27 percent of their time directly caring for patients.
