Hungary intends to create an alliance with the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the EU that will be skeptical of Ukraine, said Balázs Orbán, the chief political advisor to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, according to Politico.
According to him, Viktor Orbán plans to cooperate with Andrej Babis, whose ANO party won the Czech parliamentary elections, and with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. Such a political alliance could be formed before the summit of EU leaders in December this year.
Such a union could significantly complicate the EU’s efforts to provide financial and military support to Ukraine, writes Politico.
However, the publication believes that the creation of such an alliance will take some time. Robert Fico has previously avoided formally agreeing with the Hungarian leader on certain policy areas, and Andrej Babis has yet to form a government.
