I have learned that videos of objectionable content are being circulated online, attempting to link them to me and my family. Simultaneously, a supposedly defamatory media outlet, calling itself a media outlet, has demanded the resignation of the Catholicos of All Armenians. Archbishop Arshak wrote about this.
“Given the language and preferences used by the odious leader of the ruling political force, I consider it entirely natural that the media outlets serving him have no choice but to spread distortions and slander, no less potent than the slanderous story ‘The Other Side of the Earth.’ Many have advised me to respond quickly and refute this. I want to state that I cannot refute fabrications and slander with a straight face, even with extreme effort. I believe it is prudent to ignore them.
Therefore, I publicly direct my contempt and ridicule at the interested parties. I propose that these videos also be published in the daily newspaper “Haykakan Zhamanak” and on the pages of ardent Communist Party representatives as a clear demonstration of their preferences. It’s simply ridiculous to see the antics of the ruling political party’s propaganda machine amid the dangerous events unfolding in the country, the divisions in society, the rampant crime, and similar serious challenges, naturally following the illegal orders of the head of the executive branch, including public ones.
I am convinced that the government’s well-known practice of weakening the Church, discrediting the clergy, dividing society, and intimidating people will have no effect. Save your energy, ladies and gentlemen; you will need it in the hour of responsibility, when the “opposite sides of your faces” will be fully revealed.
