It has been announced that the US Vice President will visit not only Armenia but also Azerbaijan in February. RPA Vice President Armen Ashotyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“For now, I am putting aside the asymmetry in the agendas of the visits to Yerevan and Baku, although this is also a result of failed foreign policy.
I believe that during this visit, we should maximize Armenia’s potential and raise the issue of the release of our prisoners of war held in Baku and the military-political leadership of Artsakh.
Several months ago, the US President’s special envoy secured the release of several dozen Belarusian political prisoners in Minsk.
A similar scenario is possible in the case of Aliyev and Pashinyan.
“Protecting the rights of Christian Armenians in Azerbaijan, and at least the clergy in Armenia, is consistent with both Vance’s personal worldview and the Trump administration’s.”
We, in Armenia and the diaspora, must continue to work purposefully in this direction.
I am confident that we will be able to benefit from Vance’s visit in the form of freedom for our compatriots,” Ashotyan wrote.
