The Primate of the Syunik Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, His Eminence Bishop Makar Hakobyan, also summoned today by the Investigative Committee, declined to provide details to journalists, stating that doing so is prohibited.
“I cannot speak about the materials; I am forbidden from speaking about the case,” the archbishop noted.
He also stated that, no matter what happens, the vow of allegiance to the Mother See, Holy Etchmiadzin, will not be broken.
“I will never break my vow, even at the cost of death. We made a vow before God and Holy Etchmiadzin. We made a vow of unconditional obedience to the Patriarch of All Armenians. Our status is a vow, and we make it before God.”
