The message of the third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of the New Year and Holy Christmas holidays:
“Compatriots,
Today we say goodbye to another year, full of trials, losses and difficulties, which, unfortunately, did not remain in the past. We enter the new year with increasing problems and numerous worries, without losing, however, the inexhaustible vitality and boundless optimism characteristic of our people, which I would very much like to have solid foundations.
In this difficult period full of dangers and challenges for our people and state, it is necessary to be prudent and vigilant, not to believe the shameless lies and empty promises of the rulers of Armenia, who have brought the country to the brink of destruction, and to look only at the facts.
Let us distinguish falsehood from reality, let us not tolerate the power-grabbers who endlessly talk about peace, but who have thrown the state into the clutches of a never-ending war, who have inflicted a shameful defeat on the country in the 44-day war, who have handed over Artsakh to the enemy, who have ceded territories from Armenia and are obsessed with keeping their own throne, and who are ready to do anything to justify their defeat in the war. They have no shame, no morality, no conscience, no honor, and finally, they have no Homeland.
Let us today, physically and mentally, be with the families of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Artsakh liberation war and for the defense of Armenia with all our soul and heart, let us support and sympathize with thousands of our compatriots who were deprived of their homes, let us be in Yerablur and Tsitsernakaberd, Dadivank and Amaras, Gandzasar and Ghazanchetsots. The power of the mind is powerful, and let our prayers mentally reach those places that are dear and sacred to us. Let us gird the Armenian captives held hostage in Azerbaijani prisons with our daily struggle.
In order to write the history of our successes and victories from a new line and from a deeper level, it is necessary to put a full stop at the end of the previous humiliating, bloody and nightmarish paragraph. I urge you once again not to fall into the trap of the false promises of the power-grabbers, to do everything to get rid of these anti-national authorities that have become the servants of the enemy as soon as possible, to be responsible before our generations, to firmly uphold our national values, which have been trampled on at every step for about seven years.
The peace of our families, the future of our children, and the existence of the state require this from each of us.
Under the lofty and wonderful auspices of the New Year and Christmas, I wish that divine love and peace be abundant in your homes, that peace on our ancient land be dignified and lasting.
I wish you determination and success in the new year in stopping this destructive process of our state.
Happy New Year and Merry Christmas.”
