In recent hours, more than 50 Israeli Air Force fighter jets, under the precise guidance of the Intelligence Directorate, carried out a series of attacks on military production facilities in the Tehran area, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesperson’s Office reported.
It is noted that as part of efforts to damage Iran’s nuclear weapons program, a centrifuge production facility in Tehran was attacked. The production of centrifuges would help Iran expand the scale and speed of uranium enrichment for the development of nuclear weapons.
Iran enriches uranium intended for the development of nuclear weapons. Nuclear development for civilian use does not require enrichment at these levels, the IDF emphasized.
The massive attacks hit several weapons production facilities, in particular a facility producing raw materials and components for the assembly of surface-to-surface missiles that Tehran “has launched and continues to launch toward the State of Israel.”
In addition, Israeli attacks targeted facilities producing systems and components for surface-to-air missiles designed to destroy aircraft. The targets were attacked as part of the IDF’s efforts to cripple Iran’s nuclear weapons program and missile industry, the report said.
