During the “previous” government, the Armenian government received financial and technical assistance from the European Union to implement electoral reforms, ensure transparency and technical support for elections, and make them more democratic, free, and fair. This was written by Armen Ashotyan, Vice Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia.
“The fact that this regime is basing its pre-election appeal to the EU on the struggle against real political opponents is not only a disgrace from the standpoint of sovereignty and a blatant interference in our internal affairs, but also an exceptional act of support for an autocrat by the EU.
If the EU once funded democracy in Armenia, now it’s a dictatorship,” he wrote.
