At a press conference dedicated to the invitation, Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan spoke about the possibility of becoming the Prime Minister, emphasizing that he has never had such a desire, but he is ready to support a leader who is true to his principles.
“I have never wanted and will not strive to become the Prime Minister. But if I see that there is no person capable of pulling the country out of this swamp, and the people trust me and demand: “You are the son of an Armenian, come and become the Prime Minister”, I am ready to risk my life for the Motherland,” he said.
According to him, the country is now in a situation where the wealth of the entire country is concentrated in the hands of ten families.
“On one side of the scale are the entire people, on the other are these 10 families. They are richer than the state. “The Earth’s interior should become state property, like the Chinese model,” he said.
“If there is a person who says: “The Republic of Armenia is more important to me than these ten families,” I will definitely protect him. And if I see that there is no such person, and the people say: “You must do this,” I will do it. If I do not do this, cut off both my hands. If I do not do what I say, if I do not quickly put this country on its feet, then I am not my father’s son,” Ghukasyan emphasized.
