On October 31, at a session of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, MP Zahid Oruj made a statement in which he attempted to present Azerbaijan’s “victory” as a unique phenomenon in the world.
According to Oruj, there are currently 61 armed conflicts raging around the world, but none of them has led to a lasting peace or a clear winner. Oruj declared that Azerbaijan is “the only state that has achieved maximum results in the shortest possible time and with minimal losses.”
The MP added that “Azerbaijan not only achieved a complete and decisive victory in the war for independence, but also managed to see it through to the end.”
In his speech, Oruj attempted to emphasize Ilham Aliyev’s role as a “victorious leader,” stating that US President Donald Trump had “expressed admiration” for Aliyev.
Turning to the topic of Armenia, Oruj stated: “Armenians are waiting for Baku to present the ‘real Armenia,’ not ‘Greater Armenia,’ ‘Caucasian Armenia,’ or ‘Maritime Armenia.'”
He added: “If you ever hear an Azerbaijani leader speak from Yerevan, know that Ilham Aliyev has returned the Caucasus to Peter the Great. This will be the greatest return.”
