Stating that Iran is closely monitoring developments in Syria in support of regional stability, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Baghaei stated that Tehran is in no rush to restore relations with Damascus, Mehr reports.
During his weekly press conference on Monday, Ismail Baghaei stated that Syria’s fate should be decided by Syrian citizens themselves, without foreign interference or pressure.
He emphasized that regional peace and security are closely linked to stability in Syria. Regarding bilateral relations, Baghaei noted that Tehran is in no rush to make decisions on this issue.
“While we are open to cooperation with all countries in the region and believe that stability in Syria is important for the security of the entire region, we continue to closely monitor developments,” he said.
Baghai added that ultimately, the Syrian authorities must decide how to structure their interactions with other states in the region.
