Iran’s Supreme Leader’s Representative Says Israel Has Great Influence on Azerbaijan

Representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the Ashura Union, Hojjat-ul-Islam Abdurrahim Sarai, expressed serious concern over Israel’s active presence and influence in Azerbaijan. According to him, this presence poses a real threat to Iran’s security and independence, Tasnim news agency reported.

Speaking at an event dedicated to the memory of those killed in the 12-day war in Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province, Sarai stressed that “the Zionist regime has great influence in Azerbaijan.” He drew attention to a large airport located opposite the Iranian village of Ashagi in the Khudaferin district, just 17 kilometers from the Iranian border.

“Flights to Tel Aviv and back are carried out daily from this airport, which indicates a high level of coordination between Azerbaijan and the Zionist regime,” he said.

Sarai called such a clear presence “proof of the Zionist regime’s complete control over Azerbaijan.” He also warned of the consequences: “Such a presence not only undermines stability and security in Azerbaijan, but also poses a threat to the entire region, primarily to the Islamic Republic of Iran.” According to Sarai, such actions are aimed at destabilizing the Islamic world and weakening the sovereign states of the region.
