Death calculator created in the UK

A “death calculator” will be tested in the UK.

According to published data, this is a special program based on artificial intelligence that is capable of calculating life expectancy based on an analysis of heart health.

As reported by the scientific publication The Lancet, this program is supposed to be used to perform an electrocardiogram on patients. According to the developers, the data obtained in this way will be enough for the neural network to predict the risk of cardiovascular diseases in the future and even determine the expected date of death, Life.ru reports. Scientists said that artificial intelligence calculates the risk of death within 10 years with an accuracy of up to 78 percent.

The researchers claim that the program is even capable of reading genetic changes that can lead to heart pathologies, but have not yet manifested themselves. According to the creators of the “calculator”, it accurately determines the risk of death, including from heart failure, ventricular arrhythmia and atherosclerosis.

Artificial intelligence was “trained” using ECG data from almost 190,000 patients and observations of their subsequent condition over the next 3–5 years. It is worth noting that nearly 35,000 patients died during the study. The system was tested on volunteers in the US, Brazil, and the UK. In the near future, the program is planned to be tested in London hospitals. Cardiologists expressed hope that it will subsequently be widely implemented in the healthcare system.
