Khamenei’s election demonstrates that a superpower like the United States cannot impose its own leader on Iran. This is what Iranologist Vartan Voskanyan wrote.

“By electing Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei as its spiritual leader, Iran is sending several signals to the world.

First, it demonstrates systemic political continuity in Iran.

Second, the new spiritual leader is one of the most influential figures in the Iranian “deep state,” a participant in the Iran-Iraq War and a man closely associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. In other words, in a war-torn environment, elections have not only spiritual but also clear military-political justifications.

And ultimately, these elections demonstrate that even a powerful superpower like the United States cannot impose its leader on Iran or influence the choice of that leader as long as that country exists as an independent state.”
