Russia is ready to become a mediator in the settlement of the conflict between Israel and Iran; contacts have been held on this matter. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov, RBK reports.
Peskov was asked whether contacts on mediation are planned.
“You know that over the past few days [Russian President Vladimir] Putin has held several important telephone conversations,” he said.
Peskov stressed that Russia remains ready to provide mediation services if necessary. The press secretary called the proposals that Putin put forward in a conversation with his American counterpart Donald Trump relevant.
Russia noted that Western countries did not come out with a clearly expressed condemnation of Iran, Peskov continued. “We see that the international community is divided into the camp of those who condemned the beginning of what is happening and those who supported it. We note this,” he concluded.
