Today, at the initiative of the Iranian side, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced.
The heads of the departments exchanged views on current bilateral and regional issues.
The ministers welcomed the agreement reached between Kabul and Islamabad, brokered by the authorities of Qatar and Turkey, on a mutual ceasefire and a ceasefire on the Afghan-Pakistani border. They called for continued dialogue between the two friendly states to resolve differences through political and diplomatic means in the interests of ensuring regional stability and security.
Lavrov and Araghchi discussed the developments in the Middle East, particularly the Palestinian-Israeli peace process and its discussions in the UN Security Council, as well as the situation on the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), where France, the United Kingdom, and Germany are attempting to launch an anti-Iranian campaign.
The parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to the unconditional implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and Iran, which entered into force on October 2.
