“Restoring Azerbaijan’s sovereignty” through genocide against the territory of indigenous Armenians is not justice under international law. It is even illegal under international law. This is stated in a statement issued by the Lemkin Institute for the Prevention of Genocide, which responded to the statements of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at COP29.
“Azerbaijan did not act alone; without the military assistance of Israel, as well as the complicity and blessing of the US State Department, this would not have been possible. We are ashamed of the silence of those who are still present at COP29,” the statement reads.
