Why do genocides happen? Why, throughout history, have some peoples always been the perpetrators, the killers and destroyers, while another… had a peculiar habit of being killed, genocided, massacred, and dispossessed?
Why is it that way? Something to reflect on?
No, not at all.
There is nothing to reflect on.
You just need to look at one single ‘species’—us, the so-called Armenians.
Our species’ defining trait is NOT TO THINK,
to NOT UNDERSTAND historical realities,
a self‑defense instinct at absolute zero,
carelessness towards our own blood,
indifference to our homeland,
irresponsibility towards our own child,
hatred towards our neighbor,
ignorance of our self‑image.
Our ‘species’ will always face genocide — every hundred, hundred and ten years…
And the ones responsible? They’re not those who destroy us.
It’s we ourselves — individually and collectively.
Do you know why? Because:
– we lack genetic memory,
– we lack responsibility,
– we lack a sense of homeland,
– we have lost our historical memory,
– we have no shame,
– we lack even a basic instinct for self‑defense…
And today, in the 21st century, with our ignorance and national rhetoric, we are committing a new, more humiliating and tragic genocide against ourselves.
People like us will always be slaughtered and dispossessed.
Everything is visible.
Then we will weep to the world: “Did you know? We were massacred again.”
And we will once again go door to door demanding recognition… And the world will spit in our face and snicker.
P.S. After I resolve this issue, I’ll find the time to thoroughly edit—or better, rewrite from scratch—my novel “Gyulunya”, this time even more honest.
