Le Pen, the leader of the right-wing National Rally party in the French parliament, called on President Emmanuel Macron to dissolve parliament following the resignation of French Prime Minister Sébastien Le Corneille, RIA Novosti reports.
“I call on him (Macron – ed.) to dissolve the National Assembly (the lower house of parliament – ed.), because… there is no other solution… and in the current circumstances, the only reasonable solution is provided for by the French Constitution.
That is, to hold elections so that the French people can determine the direction of the country,” the politician said on BFMTV.
Le Pen also welcomed Le Corneille’s decision to resign, calling it “a sign of wisdom.”
The politician believes that President Macron’s resignation would also be a wise move.
“I don’t have to ask him to do that (to resign – ed.). “If he makes such a decision, it will again be a wise one. Of course, the dissolution (of parliament – ed.) is absolutely inevitable,” he said.
