Arman Navasardyan, Director of the Armenian office of Gallup, presented the results of the latest survey.
To the question: “How do you assess the provision of a road through Syunik?”, 4% of citizens answered “completely positive”, 18.1% “rather positive”, 11.3% “rather negative”, and 47.6% “generally negative”, 5.6% found it difficult to answer.
“We see that about 60% responded negatively to the provision of a road through Syunik,” Navasardyan noted.
To the question, “Will the Washington Agreement contribute to the establishment of long-term peace in the region?” 15.4% answered “definitely yes,” 22.8% “rather yes,” 13.5% “rather no,” and 41.6% “definitely no.”
“That is, almost 55% of respondents do not believe in the thesis that the Washington Agreement will contribute to peace,” Navasardyan said.
To another question, “Azerbaijan has mentioned the amendment of the Constitution as a prerequisite for signing a final peace treaty. Which judgment do you agree with the most?”, the answers are as follows:
“The amendment of the Constitution is an internal matter of Armenia, and no country, including Azerbaijan, has the right to influence this process – 58%.
This is another political trap of Azerbaijan, and regardless of the amendment, Azerbaijan will not sign the agreement – 25.1%.
I will vote for the amendment of the Constitution if it brings real and long-term peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan – 12.2%.
It was difficult to answer – 4.7%.
It should be noted that the survey was conducted by telephone among 1,101 citizens between August 25 and 3.
