As I have already reported, my marriage to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has ended. Anna Hakobyan announced this on her Facebook page.
She noted, in particular: “Although some confusion arose because I mentioned a civil marriage, and I mentioned it that way because we are not married.
Today, February 25th (please note that today is February 27th; the video was likely filmed two days ago and is only being published now – editor’s note), I am leaving the government residence. However, since it is highly likely that taxi drivers, taxi drivers, and various unknown individuals on public transport will soon be spreading various information about me, in particular about how I removed this house from its foundation and took it with me, I consider it necessary to personally inform you of a few facts.
Fact number one: I don’t own a home. The house we bought with a mortgage is already purchased, and the building is still under construction. So, I’m moving into a rented apartment. In that case, if they say I’m a dollar millionaire, have accounts in dollar offshore zones, know nothing about castles, etc., I think it’s important to say that I have money in my account left over from the sale of the house. I don’t remember the amount because it never matters to me. Some of it was spent on personal needs, and some was saved from my salary from the “My Step” foundation, and income tax refunds are deposited into my card.
I remember this because every time I open my card, 5 million drams appear. I think that’s enough for me to live on. I don’t have a car, and naturally, I won’t have state security, so if you see me walking alone on the streets of Yerevan, please don’t be surprised or insult me, because I’ve already heard enough insults over the past eight years.
I want to continue working as the executive director of the My Step Foundation because it’s a paid position I truly need, but I think my desire alone might not be enough. Furthermore, judging by yesterday’s question-and-answer session between the Anti-Corruption Committee and a journalist, it’s possible I’ll be prosecuted as the executive director of the My Step Foundation. That’s life, perhaps… Development is possible, we’ll see what we do.
Anna Hakobyan then displays her jewelry, noting: “I also consider it necessary to show you these jewelry pieces, which are ceremonial gifts given to me over the years, which, according to the Corruption Prevention Committee’s decision, did not pose a corruption threat and were given to me perhaps seven months ago.
Some of them I’ve worn, some I haven’t even worn. Naturally, I’m donating all these gifts, jewelry, and these clothes, which I believe are also quite expensive, to the state.”
Dear friends, these boxes contain personal clothing and personal hygiene items, absolutely nothing else.
But since this feels like a farewell video in some ways, I want to tell you something specific. I’m talking about the images I’ve presented on various platforms as the Prime Minister’s wife over the past eight years, which have caused enormous controversy, criticism, and so on. I want to tell you that all this time, I had no money, zero budget, to create a wardrobe, and so on, and over the years, I literally juggled presenting myself differently on different platforms. And if any of the characters disappointed or upset you, I, of course, apologize.
I’d like to thank for the thousandth time the designers who, one way or another, helped me out of this situation and collaborated with me.
And their collaboration consisted of either making clothes for various events or giving me clothes from their own collection, which I wore and returned, for which I am very grateful. And once again, I apologize for having deeply offended them with my image, etc.
So, goodbye, until next time. I don’t want to say that I love you all, because, in my opinion, love is something that shouldn’t be said, but rather demonstrated through actions, care, and concern directed toward a loved one.
I think that over these almost eight years, at least, my actions have been based solely on love and care for you and the state. May God bless you all, and may God bless the Republic of Armenia.
Furthermore, Anna Hakobyan also wrote a post in which she noted: “I inform all my friends, acquaintances and strangers, close and distant relatives, and even my closest ones, that this topic is not subject to discussion with me. I forbid it.
I urge you, dear people, not to waste too much time “discussing” this issue. It will become an idle exercise, useless and fruitless.
We listened, we wrote down, we moved forward.”
