Narek Samsonyan’s precautionary measures have been changed and he has been placed under house arrest, announced lawyer Ruben Melikyan, adding that Samsonyan is still in the hospital undergoing post-operative treatment.
“His Holiness Bagrat’s speech in court today was simply wonderful. Powerful and dignified. The entire millennial wisdom of our Mother Church resounded in the courtroom, like an invisible blessing.
I listened attentively and, at the end, noticed I had missed calls. It turned out to be a call from the Court of Appeals. It turned out they were calling to inform me that Judge Karen Hovhannisyan had decided to commute the prison sentence of political prisoner Narek Samsonyan to house arrest based on our complaint.
Let me remind you that Narek is still in the hospital undergoing post-operative treatment. He’ll likely remain there for a few more days.
Freedom for all political prisoners,” Melikyan wrote.
