NATO Deploys Another Patriot Missile Defense System in Turkey’s Southern Adana Province: Turkish Defense Ministry

NATO is deploying another Patriot missile defense system in Turkey’s southern Adana province, where troops from the United States and other countries are stationed, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday.

Turkey, which has the second-largest army in NATO and borders Iran, announced last week that the alliance had deployed a Patriot system in its southeastern Malatya province, near a NATO radar base, as part of measures to strengthen air defenses against missile threats from Iran during the war.

Adana is home to Turkey’s Incirlik Air Base, where, in addition to Turkish troops, troops from the United States, Qatar, Spain, and Poland are stationed.

“In addition to the national measures taken to ensure the safety of our airspace and citizens, another Patriot system deployed by the Joint Air Force Command in Ramstein, Germany, is being deployed in Adana, in addition to the Spanish Patriot system already there,” the ministry said in a statement at its weekly briefing.
