The construction of the road connecting the main part of Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic can be carried out by American investors.
As reported by Report, this was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with Al Arabiya TV channel.
“Now that US President Donald Trump has given his name to the “Zangezur Corridor”, I am sure that it will be implemented in the near future. As for the construction of the physical infrastructure, that is, the railway, it should not take much time, since its length is only 42 kilometers. If we built it, we would do it in a year, since we have more experience in building railways. However, Armenia may need a few more years,” the head of state said.
“In fact, this is not important for us. What is important for us is that the railway is built and there are international security guarantees. “In other words, Azerbaijanis traveling from Nakhchivan to mainland Azerbaijan or vice versa should not experience discomfort. They should not worry about their safety, given the long-standing confrontation and hostility,” he added.
